1. What is LUMMIE?

We're a platform that helps connect our Lummie teachers with our Lummie students both locally and worldwide. If you want to become our teacher, you must first register and select a specific package (see table in Payments, point 4). Then create one or more ads, depending on the selected package for each of your knowledge or skills. You specify some personal information, references, price your lessons and time availability. You can choose to teach lessons wherever you like (your home, studio, a coffee shop, library, park, etc.) or travel to the student`s locations; at a student`s home or based on hers/his wishes any other place which you both agree on.

2. Why should I become a part of LUMMIE COMMUNITY?

Students who are motivated to gain new knowledge and individuals who want to improve their knowledge in various areas (school, sports, art, etc.) are an excellent way to reach your ultimate goal as a LUMMIE teacher – to help students achieve their own learning goals. By using our services, you can make, market and manage your unique private teaching business. We offer the easiest way to grow and manage your teaching business

3. How do I create a profile

A profile is created easily. You just enter login information into our login form. You can create your user profile with your Facebook account, google account or with your email. When an account is created, we will send you a conformation link to confirm your account. When the account is confirmed, you will be able to log in on our web site.

4. How do I contact LUMMIE?

You can contact us simply through our ‘ASK LUMMIE’ page by sending a request to our support team or by sending us an e-mail at: ask@lummi-e.com. A member of our support team will respond to your request as soon as possible.

5. Can I choose more than just one subjects from the list?

Yes of course. You can select as many students as you want, of course, as long as you are competent to teach them all.

6. Can I as a LUMMIE teacher offer group Lessons as well?

Yes, of course. If you want to offer group Lessons, you can enter them at any time once you are signed in. Go to Account/Profile/Your listings and choose your selected lessons. Please note that when setting prices for Group Lessons, the prices are per group, not per person. Group lessons can also be created at the start when you are editing your listing for the first time.

7. How do I respond to a question from a LUMMIE student?

When a potential student sends you a question through your profile, you’ll receive their question through your email inbox (not your LUMMIE account). That makes responding to students super easy since all you need to do is reply directly to the email. All contact info for you and the student will remain hidden throughout your communication, so even t hough you’re responding through your email, your info will remain secure.

8. Responding to students

Questions you receive from potential students usually indicate that they are close to booking lessons with you, so we recommend responding as soon as you can. Remember, it’s in your best interest to get connected with the right students, so if the student’s question is a stretch, it’s ok to reply, “It sounds like I might not be the right teacher for you.” Turning down students before they book lessons will not hurt your search ranking. If you get a message that is SPAM or seems suspicious, be sure to report the message to us so we can block messages like that from getting to you. We got your back! Messages sent between you and your potential student should never include:

  • Links to other websites
  • Offensive content of any kind

Keep in mind, students who ask you questions are usually the ones who book lessons! That means the quality and speed of your answer can be a determining factor in whether or not they book lessons with you. So, do your best to leave the student with a great impression. Students use questions to get to know you and learn more about what the lessons will be like, so do your best to make a great first impression!

9. How do I politely turn down a request from a potential student?

When it comes to turning down a potential student's request, you'll want to be as polite as possible while getting your point across.

10. What are some tips to encourage students to book lessons?

When a potential student sends you a question, you have a golden opportunity to make a great first impression. Students who contact you directly are usually very close to booking lessons with you, so it’s in your best interest to provide a positive experience with your reply. We suggest that you:

  • reply in 2 hours or less if possible
  • be concise and thoughtful with your response
  • keep your tone inviting and professional

.... and don’t forget to remind them to book you!
Remember, the majority of students shopping for the right teacher contact more than one teacher, so make sure you stand out by sending a friendly follow up message or call!

11. What are your LUMMIE teacher guidelines?

At Lummie, both teachers and students are required to follow certain guidelines when using our Website and Service(s). 

As Lummie Teacher you are required to:

  • maintain accurate information regarding location, availability and services offered
  • honor scheduling policies as agreed by you and your students
  • address all schedule details directly with your students
  • notify Lummie if your student misses more than 2 consecutive lessons in a row.

1. How much should I charge for lessons?

Pricing is entirely up to you! You may want to check out how much other teachers in your area are charging for lessons if you're trying to get an idea for where to start. You have complete control of pricing your lessons based on lesson location and duration.

2. How can I as a LUMMIE teacher set or edit my prices?

You can edit your prices at any time once you are signed in. After that, go to Profile/Your listings and choose your selected lesson. You can change the prices under Prices and Availability (the second option in My Lessons). When setting your prices, you can select your preferred currency. Once you enter your price for a single lesson, the system then automatically suggests discounted prices for sets of two, five and ten lessons. You are of course free to edit those as you please.

3. How and when do LUMMIE students pay for lessons?

All Lummie students of the Lummie community make payments‏ directly to teachers. The payments have to be payed as agreed with teacher.

4. Are there any service fees?

To publish your ad on Lummie portal you have to make a prior payment of the selected package (see table below).

5. How do I get paid for the lessons I teach?

Before or after completed lessons, as agreed at the moment of being booked, you will from the student receive the deposit. Under Slovenian law, any teacher who advertises via Lummie portal has to have their activity registered.

6. Will I have to pay taxes on my lessons?

By signing up to LUMMIE, you understand and agree that you alone are solely responsible for determining your applicable tax reporting requirements. If you have any doubts about this, we would recommend that you get in contact with your tax advisor.

Becoming‏ a member of a LUMMIE COMMUNITY is very easy and simple and completely‏ free! Just sign up, wait for your personal activation e-mail to arrive and click on the activation link. You are then ready to choose and book your right LUMMIE teacher.

3. How does LUMMIE work?

You can find out how our services work in the Help section. In basic terms, we do all the hard work by providing a platform for teachers; allowing you to easily book a lesson(s) with them.

4. How do I select the right LUMMIE teacher for me?

Simply select the subject you are looking for, click on the location where you want to learn and you will be taken to a list of our LUMMIE teachers. It’s all up to you which one you choose and pick.

5. How do I know when my LUMMIE teacher is available?

After selecting the Lummie teacher you want, you can see their availability on their profile‏. Then you must verify the teacher’s schedule by directly contacting them.

6. How can I express my dissatisfaction with my LUMMIE teacher’s performance?

Our student’s satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us. If you are not satisfied with your teacher’s performance, or have any other complains about any of our services, please do not hesitate to contact us at: ask@lummi-e.com. Our support team will be happy to help you in any way they can.

7. How do I pay for the lessons?

Lessons are payed as agreed with your selected teacher. If you are not completely satisfied with your Lummie teacher, we will gladly help you to find a new one.

8. What forms of payment does LUMMIE accept?

The payment is from Lummie students is not in our domain. Your payments are made directly to your teachers.

9. How does my LUMMIE teacher get paid?

Our teacher gets paid directly from you after or before concluded lessons.

10. Do I have to sign up in order to book a LUMMIE teacher?

You can browse our website without signing up. However, if you want to book one of our Lummie teachers and get all of the great Lummie advantages, you have to sign up. Signing up to access our services is very easy and simple and completely‏ free! Just click on the ‘Login’ button, fill in your personal data and you will be granted full access to all our services.

11. What are your LUMMIE Student Guidelines?

At Lummie, we encourage both teachers and students to follow certain guidelines. These guidelines supplement our Terms of Use and are conditional to the use of our Website and Service(s). 

As a Lummie student, you will be required to:

  • Pay for lessons as agreed with your teacher
  • Manage all schedule details directly with your Lummie teacher
  • Understand and comply with the rescheduling rules set by your Lummie teacher and/or our rescheduling guidelines
  • Work directly with Lummie to change teachers

12. What if I, as a LUMMIE student, have a scheduling conflict with one of my lessons?

Most LUMMIE teachers are flexible when it comes to rescheduling lessons. If you need to reschedule, please notify your LUMMIE teacher at least 24 hours in advance by sending him a message.

13. What about the cancellation policy?

We understand that sometimes circumstances arise that force a LUMMIE student to cancel an already booked lesson. The lesson must be cancelled following the Cancellation Policy, as specified within each Teacher’s profile.

Cancellation Policy:

If a LUMMIE student at any time cancels an already booked lesson, they are entitled to reschedule their booked lesson in agreement with the LUMMIE teacher. If a student has constant cancelations from the teacher’s side, he is entitled to change the teacher.

14. How do I temporarily deactivate my LUMMIE TEACHER profile?

If you are no longer in need of a TEACHER you can temporarily deactivate your account. This will prevent LUMMIE STUDENTS from messaging you, and a note will be displayed on your profile stating your account is inactive. To temporarily deactivate your TEACHER account, go to profile settings, click on 'basic' and at the bottom you can deactivate your profile. If you would like to re-active your account, log in with the same username and password.

15. How do I deactivate my LUMMIE STUDENT profile?

If you are no longer in need of LUMMIE services you can deactivate your account. To temporarily deactivate your STUDENT account, go to profile settings, click on 'basic' and at the bottom you can deactivate your profile. If you would like to re-active your account, log in with the same username and password.
